Task Contact: William Cannon

Task Objectives

Using existing analyses, compile a single data set for soils collected during several separate activities in recent years in the Lake Superior region. These include data from Chequamegon National Forest in Wisconsin, Isle Royale National Park in Michigan, and Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota. Determine and summarize statistically significant trends in variation of each of about 25 elements with depth. Test for spatial variability of trends among various soil types and in various forest settings using GIS techniques based on recently developed ecological classification coverages for the region. Prepare a report to summarize and document trends.
