Task 2 - GIS Support and Information Management

• Geostatistical modeling and mapping (65 maps) of 21 geochemical variables produced exploration geochemistry task of the Headwaters Project.
• All 1:250K DRGs for Alaska were reprojected and de-collared to facilitate user-defined mosaicking.
• National elevation data have been compiled and reformatted for each 1:250,000 quad in the Alaska to facilitate custom mosaics.
• Completed Salmon National Forest digital geology.
• Assisted completion and co-authorship of Exploration and discovery in Yellowstone Lake: results from high resolution sonar imaging, seismic reflection profiling, and submersible studies: Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research, 2003, v. 122, no. 3-4.
• Assisted completion and co-authorship of Geologic map of the Big Delta B-2 quadrangle, east-central Alaska: 2003, USGS Geologic Investigations Series I-2788.
• Produced statewide geochemical maps of Alaska based on new National Surveys and Analysis data.
• Produced geochemical models and maps for mineral resource investigations of Southeast Alaska.
• Created maps of sampling design options for the proposed Continental-Scale Soil Geochemical Survey of North America to show site distributions (1) of uniform hexagonal grid, (2) stratified by ecoregions, (3) proportional to population, and (4) based on local variance in models of geochemical distributions in regolith derived from data of Boerngen and Shacklette, 1981.
• Created geochemical models and maps of the Big Delta quadrangle, east central Alaska.
• Compiled and created maps of various spatial data layers for the Tintina metallogenic belt.
• Supported the Greater Yellowstone Integrated Science project. Bathymetric modeling, scientific visualization, and data integration.
• Geologic digitizing support for the Headwaters, Idaho & Montana project, for the Baselines and Backgrounds project in the Big Delta quadrangle, east-central Alaska.
• Digitizing/editing support for Central Region Surveys and Analysis project to fit Central Region statewide geologic maps to prescribed state boundaries in support of the Spatial Data Delivery project.
• Digital integration and spatial data acquisition for wildfire related investigations pertinent to the Health Effects of Asbestiform Mineral Dusts.
• Scoping, evaluation, and production of comparison displays of digital geologic map coverages for the Metallogeny of the Great Basin project.
• Alaska Miners Association meeting presentation of GIS-based modeling in East-Central Alaska, National Surveys and Analysis, November, 2001.
• Alaska Surveying and Mapping conference presentation, February, 2002. Raster modeling applications for mineral resource assessements in East-Central Alaska, National Surveys and Analysis project.
• Provided GIS support for Geoff Plumlee. Products include digital maps of geologic sheets of the Marinduque, Luzon, Philippines; and five CDs that archive digital data generated for the project.
• Completed digital version of "Geologic Map of the Salmon National Forest" for USGS publication.
• Digital geologic map compilation and editing for the Headwaters Project study area.
• GIS support for the BLM Prickly Pear project, Wyoming.
• Digital geologic map production and editing of Rigby SE and Hese quardrangles, ID, for Integrated Geoscience Studies of the Greater Yellowstone Area.
• Digital delineation of drainage basins associated with geochemical sample sites, Middle Fork Salmon River, Headwaters Province Project.
• Digitized compilation of geomorphology, Animas Abandoned Mine Lands Project.
