Updated National Mineral Resource Assessment - Planning Phase

Develop Assessment Uncertainty Measures

Task Contact: Dennis Helsel

Task Objectives

Task Statement of Work

Task Objectives

Statistically robust measures of uncertainty associated with current methods of mineral resource assessment need to be developed. Projections of the expected quantities of contained metal must be accompanied by estimates of the uncertainty/reliability of those projections.

This task will address two objectives:

  1. Evaluating the utility of current assessment uncertainty measures, and
  2. Developing new methods for expressing uncertainty associated with quantitative resource assessments produced by the Mineral Resources Program.

Statement of Work

This Task was combined with Task 4 in 2008.
